Meet Jodie

This week we meet Jodie.

From our head office in Maidenhead.

Hi Jodie,  what do you enjoy doing

in your spare time?

I love photography and am a bit of a gadget girl- always happy to learn about the latest shiny things.

How long have you worked for Three?

It will be 4 years this summer.

What phone do you have?

I'm currently using a HTC Sensation.

What do you want to tell us about today?

I’m going to be a first time mum in May - and my smartphone has been a life saver!

The My Pregnancy Today app.

This gives you a daily update of what’s happening which is great if you want to know that the baby is now the size of a grape… or a banana. But the best thing is that it means you can scroll through to see what’s happening in a few weeks time.

For example, if you’re planning a holiday or have an invite to an event, you can flick through to see ‘how pregnant’ you’ll be by that date, or how you’re likely to be feeling. It helped me work out what dress I could get away with at our last conference to make sure that no-one guessed I was pregnant!

Evernote

Evernote.

When you find out you’re expecting, everyone wants to give you advice - what books to read, what pushchair to buy etc.

I keep a note of things using the Evernote app so that when I come to do my proper research on what to buy, I have their comments to hand. I can access the file on my laptop and then copy and paste reviews from the web, so everything is in one place.

Kindle app

The Kindle app.

Although I have a ‘proper’ Kindle that I normally read my e-books on, I also use this Kindle app.  I love the fact that they sync with each other, so whichever one I pick up, I can carry on reading where I left off.

When you’re pregnant, you lose the ability to sleep through the night and sometimes you find yourself awake at funny o’clock. Seeing as my phone is always next to my bed, it’s quick and easy to use the Kindle app to have a read.

So far I’ve read ‘Minus nine to one - the diary of an honest mum’ by Jools Oliver and am currently working my way through ‘Pregnancy, the Mumsnet Guide - A Million Mums’ secrets’.

Google Search

Google Search.

I couldn’t live without this on my phone! It’s most handy when you’re in a restaurant or out with friends and you’re confronted with a menu… Can I eat brie? Is paté allowed? What about goats’ cheese? Can I have a glass of wine?

There are so many do’s and don’ts, and the ability to know there and then what you can and can’t eat is a life saver. Without it, I’d be limited to the most boring items on the menu every time.
