Everything you need to know about the Samsung S7.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 isn't just an upgrade from previous Samsung phones - it's been created based on the wants and needs of Samsung customers.

From expandable memory, a more advanced camera and a better gaming spec; to a slim, sleek build with an impressive IP68 rating for dust and water resistance, this hard-wearing smartphone is already being hailed by some as the best phone of 2016. So how can you go wrong? Let’s see if it’s worth the hype…

Go anywhere, do anything.

Though last year's Galaxy S6 was pretty slick, the lack of water resistance and expandable storage was something users commented on. So the Samsung S7 brings back some features you love, including a hybrid dual SIM tray that supports a SIM card and a microSD card (able to hold up to 200GB of memory).

Plus a new IP68 rating which means you can take your S7 out and about no matter what the weather, and even shower with your smartphone. So long as you don't go more than a 1.5m underwater for longer than 30 minutes, your S7 should be safe.

Feel the power.

Like most smartphone manufacturers, Samsung have received some criticism over the battery life of previous phones - which may be why the new flagship device addresses the heartache of a drained battery. The Galaxy S7 is crammed with a 3,000mAh battery, which is about 18% larger than the S6. In other words, if you're stuck on a long train journey, you can enjoy a whole season of ‘Game of Thrones’ on your phone before you need to grab a charger.

What's more, when the phone does run out of power, you can ‘fast charge’ with the wireless charging pad or microSD cable.

Play harder.

Samsung has always been on it when it comes to powering virtual reality headsets and the S7 doesn't disappoint. You can still use your phone as a VR device, but the gaming focus goes much further than you think. TouchWiz (the customised Android system that powers the Galaxy S7) comes packed with a brand new gaming hub, where you can shoot videos, take incoming calls on small-screen icons and reply to texts, all while topping your Candy Crush score. Or, if you fancy some new gaming challenges, check out these Android games for the S7.

Never switch off.

Finally, the Galaxy S7 comes with an ‘always on’ mode. In other words, a small part of your phone will remain powered constantly, even when you’re not using it, so you don't have to worry about fumbling around for the unlock button when you're trying to check whether you're late for work, take an impromptu picture, or want to quickly update your Facebook status. The always on mode shows your notifications, the calendar and the time at a glance –all without sacrificing the battery life of your S7.
