With so many essential travel-companion apps, you’d be missing out if you didn’t take your tablet with you when you set off on a trip.

But apart from getting Three Recsue Insurance to cover a potential lost, stolen or damaged device, what else can you do to protect your trusty tablet, and get the most out of it when you’re travelling at home and abroad?

  1. Install some travel-friendly apps.

Make sure you’ve got Skype for video calls, and download apps like Foursquare and Urbanspoon for restaurant recommendations wherever you are. Booking apps like Kayak, Booking.com and Hipmunk let you search for flights or hotel rooms. And many tourist boards offer free apps, so it’s worth installing them before you go.
  2. Prepare for delays.

Travel schedules don’t always go to plan. But if you download TV shows, movies, music and e-books before you go you’ll have plenty to help pass the time during delays and long journeys.
  3. Map it out.

If your tablet supports GPS, you can use it for navigation. There are lots of map apps available, such as TomTom GPS, Google Maps and Lonely Planet City Guides (which come with offline maps too).
  4. Stay protected.

Whether you’re heading to Hong Kong or camping in Cornwall, make sure you keep your precious tablet protected. We’ve got some amazing tablet cases that have withstood military-style testing when it comes to being dustproof, waterproof and shatterproof.
  5. Accessorise.

Make the most of your device when you travel with extra-comfy eargels, powerful travel speakers and portable chargers. Just head over to the Three Accessories store to see the full range for your tablet (and here is our list of best tablet accessories).
  6. Feel At Home.

There’s no need to feel disconnected and far from home. With Three you can enjoy data at no extra cost in 18 destinations around the world. Just use your allowance as if you were at home in the UK.
  7. Enjoy 4G on the go with Three.

If you’ve got a tablet from another network but want a connection that’s truly portable, why not use one of our Internet with legs 4G Mobile Broadband SIM. Just pop it into your device and you’re good to go.

Not being connected to the internet sucks, especially when you’re travelling abroad. And there’s nothing worse than losing your Wi-Fi signal when you go out of range. Why not check out Three’s great range of Internet with legs products – for coverage wherever your feet might take you.
