Best shopping apps for your smartphone.

Whether you tend to shop ‘til you drop on the high street, or prefer to do it all online, there are some great apps on hand to make the shopping quicker, easier and cheaper. So grab your smartphone or tablet and get retail savvy (just in time for Christmas).

  • Amazon Shopping

All the best retailers have designed an app to make the customer journey smooth and pain-free. And with the Amazon Shopping app you can browse, buy, compare, and see all the items in your basket or access your wish list on any device. You also get a barcode scanner for when you’re out and about – simply scan the product you’re interested in and the app will compare it to Amazon’s prices.

  • HotUKDeals

Comparing prices is an essential part of any shopping experience, whether you’re in town or online. These days, price comparison tools are readily available and the HotUKDeals app is one of the best. You don’t need to sign up to anything; just download the app and you’ll find posts from users who’ve found deals online and in-store that are worth sharing.

The voting system helps you work out how much of a bargain you’re getting while you’re browsing the latest and greatest local and national deals. If you’re after something specific there’s a search tool, and you get access to freebies, vouchers and competitions too.

  • Quidco

With the Quidco app you can actually earn money back on your shopping. It’s free to download and use, and offers cashback at more than 3,500 top retailers. The app gives you both online and in-store cashback deals which can be as much as 30%. You can also access voucher codes and offers on your device and check your account on the go.

  • eBay

When it comes to getting an online bargain, eBay is the first port of call for many of us. Whether you’re after a vintage dress or the latest gadget, you can be sure you’ll find it here. With eBay you can buy items outright, or bid in online auctions, so having the app on your device means you won’t miss out on the bidding war and you don’t have to be tied to a PC or laptop to have a chance of winning.

The eBay app also gives you access to your messages, purchase history, selling tools and account details, all on the go.

  • Top cashback

Claiming to be ‘the UK’s most generous cashback site’ TopCashback does exactly what it says on the tin. It’s really simple to use and it works by passing on advertising commission to shoppers in the form of cashback.

The ‘Snap & Save’ feature lets you earn cashback on in-store purchases. Just take a picture of your receipt and upload it, then follow the simple steps and get your cashback in under a week. You also get access to top offers from retailers and restaurants, and the app will show you where your nearest branch is. Simply show the voucher code when you’re paying to seal the deal.
