 3G

This is third generation mobile technology – where we began. It lets people get online on the move, and enjoy the benefits of mobile internet.


 

HSPA+

High Speed Packet Access +. This is a faster version of 3G.


 

Advanced 3G (DC-HSDPA)

Dual Carrier – High Speed Downlink Packet Access. This relatively new technology delivers faster internet browsing and download speeds and we already cover over 80% of the UK population.


 

4G (LTE)

4G is what long-term evolution technology is known as in the UK. This is a technology that allows for improved internet browsing and download speeds. Our 4G roll-out is now well underway and we have successfully launched in parts of the UK


 

Backhaul/Network infrastructure (Big pipes)

This is the technology that sits behind the masts and it’s what makes the internet on your device run smoothly. Our pipes carry over 40% of the UK’s mobile data traffic, and are one of the reasons we’ll be able to offer the best internet experience for years to come.


 

High Definition (HD) Voice

High Definition (HD) Voice is a new technology that offers higher quality voice calls and reduced     background noise.
