We know that not everyone wants loads of data. So we wanted to offer a plan that gives you enough data to explore what the mobile internet’s got to offer - but also lets you add more data if you end up using your phone more than you thought.
Our Essential Internet plans are right for you if you want to use the internet on your phone and stay in complete control of the costs. Fixed data allowances mean you can’t accidentally spend more than you planned, but you can buy more data if you want to: it's totally up to you.
What options can you choose?
All our Essential Internet plans give you 250MB of data and 5,000 text messages (500 on Essential Internet 50). You just have to pick how many minutes you want: 50, 100, 300 or 500.
What if I want more data?
If you find yourself wanting to do more online but you’ve reached your usage limit, we’ll text you. Then you can either buy another 250 megabytes for £2 or choose all-you-can-eat data for £5 - and both of these last for 30 days.
And if you don’t want to spend any more, just wait until next month and use your new allowance. Either way, you’ll never get any surprise data charges.
What isn't included in Essential Internet plans?
We’re confident that our plans are brilliant value but we wanted to let you know that there are a few things that aren’t included. Calls to 0800, 0845 and 0870 numbers, MMS’s (that’s picture messages to you and me).
We want you to use the internet on your smartphone but tethering (basically that’s using your phone as a modem to connect to another device) is only built into The One Plan. So if you want to tether you’ll need The One Plan or a Tethering Add-on that’s available to buy in My3 or by calling 333.
And stuff like international calls, text and messages or using your phone abroad aren’t included either – but then you’d probably expect that anyway. Read our Price Guide for more info.
What are the costs when I’ve used my Essential Internet plan allowances?
Any network calls and voicemail when you’ve used your minutes allowance cost 35p a minute and texts are 12p a minute. There aren’t any out of bundle data charges – once you’ve reached your limit, you can buy an Add-on if you want to add extra data.
