Some of the biggest names in the music business helped HTC launch its new music phone, the Sensation XL with Beats Audio™, at the iconic Roundhouse venue in London’s Camden.

Lady GaGa, Dr Dre and Cheryl Cole were among the big names who turned out for the party, featuring a headline performance from Will.I.Am plus support from Nero, Fedde Le Grand, Martin Solveig and Beardyman among others.

The name of hip hop legend Dr Dre has become synonymous with Beats high-performance headphones and the company’s collaboration with HTC in the Sensation XL is being hailed as ground breaking.

The phone comes with a custom-made Beats headset to deliver ‘the ultimate mobile audio experience’.

Speaking ahead of the party, Beats co-founder Jimmy Iovine explained the brand was launched in response to the rise of music file-sharing, which was wiping out the quality of studio-produced tracks.

‘There was no chance the emotion that was created in the studio was going to reach people’s ears,’ said Iovine. ‘We wanted to create a complete experience in music that was satisfying and emotional.’

HTC was selected as a partner because the company shared the Beats vision of innovation and design, Iovine added.

The HTC Sensation XL automatically detects a Beats headset when it is plugged in and optimises the sound, so listeners hear it exactly the way the artist intended.

The phone also packs a blazingly fast dual core processor, making multi-tasking, using apps and browsing on the huge screen super-smooth.

In addition to the enhanced music features, the phone’s other standout features include an eight megapixel camera with a full HD camcorder and stereo sound recording.
