MiFi is short for ‘mobile Wi-Fi’ – which means it’s a wireless modem that provides an internet connection you can take with you anywhere you go.

It works by generating a Wi-Fi hotspot that you simply connect to from your laptop, phone or any other device. It’s just like connecting to a wireless network in a coffee shop or at home – but the difference is that it’s your own, personal connection. You don’t need to pay or buy a voucher to get on someone else’s network.

MiFi is a small pebble-shaped device that weighs less than 100 grams. It’s easy to slip into a suitcase, laptop bag or satchel, which is why we recommend it for work and travelling.

It’s perfect if you don’t want to sign up to a fixed line broadband service, if you don’t have a phone line at home but still want to get internet, or if you just want to be able to access the internet wherever you go.

You can connect up to five devices to the mobile internet with MiFi, for example an iPod touch, Playstation, laptop, desktop computer and a Kindle can connect to the same wireless network that your MiFi creates, all at the same time.

It’s great if you’re in a shared house and all five of you need to be online at once – and it doesn’t matter whether you need to use the internet for coursework, research, tweeting, gaming or watching the footie.  You can do it all at once with a MiFi connection.

We offer two MiFi options. Our High Speed MiFi (the Huawei E586) sits in a handy little charging cradle and offers up to 40% faster browsing speeds thanks to HSPA+. If you prefer a more modern look, why not opt for our white MiFi? It's the very same brilliant device, but in the bright, clear colour of a snowy day.
