Terms and conditions

With the exception of Add Video pack with mobile and Add Text with Laptop, Add-ons purchased at the time of connection to 3 have a 1 month minimum term. Your first month's Add-on allowance and charge will depend on when in the month you selected that Add-on.  Whenever that is, you can start using your Add-on straight away.  We'll work out an appropriate allowance and charge to take you to the end of the first month.  After that, you simply pay the standard monthly Add-on charge for a full month's allowance.

There is no rollover to the next month for any Add-on. 3 reserves the right to suspend, modify or withdraw Add-ons, without notice, at any time.
It is not possible to buy more than one of the same add-on in any month.

3 Cover Insurance
From just 27p a day 3 Cover will provide you with extra reassurance against:

  • Loss
  • Theft
  • Accidental damage
  • Water damage
  • Breakdown cover outside your mobile's warranty
  • A replacement mobile within 2 working days of claim approval (where possible)

To take advantage of 3 Cover you will need to purchase within 30 days of buying your phone from 3.

Add New Music Club
With Add New Music Club each month you get three music tracks or music videos of your choice and at least two tracks from the latest breaking artists which you access via a text we will send you. You also get unlimited access to selected Music TV channels (currently Kiss, MTV Trax and Vidzone, which may vary) and access to First Cut. Handset, service limitations and terms apply.

Add video pack and Add sport
To access content, press the Triangle key and then the appropriate service icon.

  • Add video pack - You get unlimited videos, news stories and alerts from Sports, Football, Comedy, Showbiz, Movies, News, Finance, Weather, Horoscopes, plus Out & About, Rent & Online games. You also get selected content from TV and Football 365, plus 20 minutes UK 3-to-3 video calls and 20 UK 3-to-3 video messages.
  • Add video pack excludes: all Music (music videos, music tracks, MTV, Pete Tong & Zane Lowe), Tunes & Pix, Buy & Multiplayer games, Top Shelf, Hot Candy, E-cards, all content accessed via video shortcodes and selected 3rd party and future content, which will be clearly identified as excluded from bundles in the product description.
  • Add sport - all content is under the football and sport icons, giving you unlimited sports videos and alerts, news stories, match highlights, results, tables, Sky Sports news bulletins and best of Soccer AM.

Add sport excludes PremierScores.


Add International Saver
Unlimited calling with International Saver is subject to a Fair Use Policy of 3000 minutes per month. You'll be sent a warning text at 2500 minutes, and a confirmation text at 3000 minutes that explains the Fair Use Policy. Unlimited usage for the International Saver Add-on only applies to calls made to stated destinations. Calls made to these destinations while roaming abroad, and from the UK to any other international destinations, are excluded from the Add-on allowance. Video and fax calls are excluded. There's no rollover to the next month for any Add-ons. Your first month's Add-on charge and allowance (where applicable) may be pro-rated. All Add-ons, including International Saver, have a one month minimum term if bought when you connect to the 3 network.

Add Internet 10
Add Internet 10 - Gives you 10MB of open Internet surfing powered by Yahoo! and Google Search, so you can access mobile web sites and search the open Internet directly from your 3 mobile. If you exceed your 10MB monthly allowance you'll still be able to continue browsing. You'll simply be charged £2 for every extra MB of data used, this will be added to your monthly bill. Cannot be used with a PC where the handset is the modem.

Add Internet Max
Add Internet Unlimited - Gives you unlimited internet surfing powered by Yahoo! Search, so you can access mobile web sites and search the open internet directly from your 3 mobile. Subject to Fair Use Policy. Service limitations and terms apply.

Add Broadband Lite, Add Broadband Plus
Available to new approved customers registering on Broadband Lite (monthly allowance of 1GB for £10 a month), Broadband Plus (monthly allowance of 3GB for £15 a month) or Broadband Max (monthly allowance of 7GB for £25 a month), subject to a 12, 18 or 24 month contract. Device charges apply depending on contract length selected and whether you are an existing 3 customer. Charges of 10p per MB will apply if inclusive allowance is exceeded. 3 reserves the right to limit excessive roaming if necessary. Compatible with Windows 2000, XP and Vista operating systems and Mac OS (may require additional drivers). Maximum speeds of up to 2.8Mbps available on selected areas within 3's HSDPA network in the UK. Service limitations and terms apply.

Mobile Broadband Add-ons
Available to new or existing approved customers registering on Broadband Lite (monthly allowance of 1GB for £10 a month) or Broadband Plus (monthly allowance of 3GB for £15 a month) Add-ons. Add Text
If you buy a text add-on between bills, your initial allowance will be spread over the rest of your current bill and the whole of your next bill. For example, if you buy Add Text 200 on the 25th January but your next bill is on the 5th February, you'll have 200 texts to use between 25th January and 4th March.

£5 monthly charge includes 15 MB of email per month. Until 01.12.06 you can continue to receive further email at no extra charge; thereafter further email will be charged at £1 per additional MB. Add Mobile Mail

Add TV Channels
Unlimited access to all TV On Demand shows e.g. Lost, Friends, Desperate Housewives etc.

Excludes: 3 On Demand shows, all alerts, Adult TV, the TV Clips area of Mobile TV, and video shortcodes. Not available on Pay As You Go. Mobile, service limitations and terms apply.

The TV Add-on is only suitable for mobiles that support live streaming. Excluded mobiles (which do not support live streaming) are: LG8110, Nokia 7600, NEC 606 and 808. TV content can only be viewed when in the UK and whilst in 3G coverage.

X-Series small print
We want you to have an enjoyable and unlimited experience of X-Series services on 3. But as you'll understand we need to manage this, so here are some things you should know.

About X-Series, X-Series Silver, and X-Series Gold
To use X-Series, X-Series Silver, or X-Series Gold:

  • To use X-Series, you need a handset with built in web browser. You also need to sign up to a Pay Monthly price plan, and buy the X-Series add-on ¿ all from 3.
  • To use X-Series Silver or Gold, you need to buy an X-Series mobile, sign up to a Pay Monthly price plan, and buy X-Series Silver or Gold ¿ all from 3. You can only use our X-Series Silver and Gold services on X-Series Silver and Gold mobiles.

If you also get a Slingbox, you'll need to take X-Series Gold for a minimum of 12 months, regardless of whether you are a new or existing customer. Otherwise, X-Series, X-Series Silver, and X-Series Gold are for a minimum period of 1 month when bought on connection to 3. Or if bought after connection there's no minimum period. After this they will stay active on your account until you cancel the one you've chosen.

If you don't use your monthly allowance it doesn't roll over to the next month.

More on X-Series Gold
Mobile access to Orb or Slingbox does not include using your mobile as a modem.
For Orb and Slingbox you'll need minimum PC software, PC and router specification and broadband at home.
Slingbox and Orb are for personal use only and you mustn't breach copyright or get around copyright protection.
To watch home TV on your mobile you need to have a TV service that you can legally view.
Slingbox is available separately and contains a Freeview receiver so you'll need a TV licence if you haven't already got one.
You're responsible for your compliance with all of these terms.

Where can I access X-Series?
All X-Series services will work when there's video coverage on 3's networks in the UK or overseas and, except for Orb and Sling, will work in our UK standard coverage as well.

When you're online
When using the internet, you can't use some websites (including adult websites) and some websites aren't compatible with all mobiles.
Some email accounts might need a premium service upgrade from your supplier.

What else?
X-Series Gold and Silver are provisioned as Add-ons and we may need to suspend or change them as permitted in the Terms for 3 Services.

Fair Use Policy - X-Series
To make the most of the X-Series from 3, we encourage you to use the services as much as you like. To help us meet our commitment to you and other customers, we also ask that you use the services fairly. Our take on fair use limits is set out below.
Please remember that the X-Series services are for your personal use only and do not include using your mobile as a modem with your PC or laptop.
A "month" is calculated from the start of each of your monthly billing periods. The following fair use limits are all separate and there is no double counting between them.

Unlimited Data
Fair Use Limit: 1 GB each month
X-Series - 1 GB should be more than enough to allow you to surf websites, use ISP email and download podcasts
X-Series Silver & Gold - 1 GB should be more than enough to allow you to surf websites, use Mobile Mail and download podcasts
We will let you know by text message once you have reached the fair use limit and ask you to cease using the included data services for the remainder of the month. If you continue to use the services we may suspend your data usage until the next month. This will not impact your access to other X-Series services.

Unlimited Windows Live Messenger
Fair Use Limit: 10,000 messages each month
This is more than 300 messages each and every day! If you exceed 10,000 messages we may suspend your access to Windows Live Messenger until the next month.

Unlimited Skype to Skype calls (X-Series Silver and X-Series Gold only)
Fair Use Limit: 5,000 minutes each month
5,000 minutes is more than 2.5 hours a day of Skype calls ¿ every day of the month. We will send you a text message to let you know when you have reached 4,500 minutes. If you exceed 5,000 minutes we will suspend your usage and it will not resume until the next month, however you will still be able to receive Skype calls.

Unlimited Slingbox and Orb (X-Series Gold)
Fair Use Limit: 80 hours each month
On X-Series Gold you get access to Orb and Slingbox (if you have one). These services have a total combined fair use limit of 80 hours each month. We will let you know by text message once you have reached the fair use limit and ask you to cease using it for the remainder of the month. If you continue to use the services we may suspend your Orb and Slingbox usage until the next month.

Using the X-Series Services to exploit the unlimited offers
We will also consider your use unfair if you use the X-Series services in any way designed to unfairly exploit the unlimited usage or cause us loss, for example, by using the services for commercial purposes, accessing services that are not included or using an unauthorised device.
We may make reasonable changes this policy in accordance with the Terms for 3 Services and any new version will replace this version.
