The presence of base stations has caused some public concern about the perceived health effects from radio waves. We take health and safety very seriously and we are committed to the highest scientific and safety standards in all our operations.
The International Commission on Non-ionising Radiation Protection (ICNIRP) has developed international guidelines, to ensure that exposure arising from telecommunications and other radio sites is kept far below any levels where it is known that an effect of radio waves could be detected. We design and operate all of our sites to comply with these standards.
"None of the recent reviews have concluded that exposure to the RF (radio frequency) fields from mobile phone base stations causes any adverse health consequence. However there are gaps in knowledge that have been identified for further research to better assess health risks"
- World Health Organisation
"The balance of evidence indicates that there is no general risk to the health of people living near base stations, on the basis that exposures are expected to be small fractions of guidelines"
- The Independent Expert Group on Mobile Phones (IEGMP)
