2007's 3 First Cut Awards put Buffalo '77 well and truly on the new music map. Their blend of indie rock and infectious rhythms won over the competitions' judging panel of record label execs and renowned XFM DJ Marsha Shandur – no easy crowd to please.
And the band's fate was sealed after they played a knock-out gig to a packed ULU in London at the 3 First Cut Awards Grand Final last summer, where they were awarded a stand-out package to help them break into the industry.
Now, with their first single, 'Won't Forget', in the bag and an album's worth of material on the way the Buffalo '77 boys are finding their diaries filling up with gig dates, and are receiving accolades from the likes of Radio 1's Steve Lamaq. Their first video even stars Green Wing actor Julian Rhind-Tutt – now that's rock 'n' roll!
Formed in Chesterfield in 2006 through a common love of creating and performing music, the band consists of brothers Pete (drums) and Graham Ainge (keyboards), and lead vocalist and guitarist Jay Leighton. As part of their prize, the band are now signed to Fallout Recordings. And they're in good company. The label is also home to the Fratellis and the Rumble Strips.
