Want to find out how missed payments or our payment support options can affect your credit file? Here’s everything you need to know:
In this article
Will a late or missed payment show on my credit file?
Yes – we report all late or missed payments, and they’ll show on your credit file. This may impact your credit score, making it more difficult or expensive to get credit in the future.
You can find out more about your credit file and late payments at experian.co.uk/consumer/guides/late-payments
Find out more about missed Airtime plan payments in our Pay Monthly terms.
For missed device plan payments check sections 6 and 7 of your Fixed Sum Loan Agreement for your device plan. This is the document you signed when buying your device.
How does a promise to pay affect my credit file?
If you set up a promise to pay with us and make the agreed payment on the agreed date, your account will be brought up to date. This will have a positive effect on your credit file.
You can find out more about setting up a promise to pay by contacting us.
What happens if I don’t pay?
Any missed or late payments will be reported on your credit file, making it more difficult or expensive to get credit in the future.
If you keep missing payments, we may suspend or cancel your Airtime account(s) and add a default to your credit file. Defaults stay on your credit file for 6 years and will make it more difficult or expensive to get credit in the future.
We’ll contact you before we do this to give you time to make a payment or find another solution.
You can find out more about defaults at experian.co.uk/consumer/guides/defaults
What happens if you close my account?
If we decide to close your account, we may transfer any outstanding balances to a Debt Collection Agency. They’ll manage the debt and contact you to set up a repayment plan.
