Daily roaming charges

  • If you joined or upgraded between 1 October 2021 and 17 December 2025, the daily roaming charge will be £7
  • If you joined or upgraded from 1 June 2025 with a SIM Only 24-month Lite plan with 25GB or 120GB data, the daily roaming charge will be £7
  • If you joined or upgraded on or after 18 December 2025 and aren’t on the SIM Only plans mentioned above, the daily roaming charge will be £8. This will start from 1 April 2026 and will be subject to annual price increases.

Remember to set your Spend Cap to an amount that covers any daily roaming charges or Go Roam passes you may need.

If you joined or upgraded before 22 June 2025:

You have roaming built in. You can use your UK allowances in over 160 Go Roam destinations for up to 28 days at no extra cost. You can check how many passes you have to use by logging into My3 or the Three app.

If you joined or upgraded on or after 22 June 2025: 

Roaming not built in. 

You can unlock your calls, texts, and up to 12GB of your UK data allowance by:

  • Buying a Go Roam pass
  • Paying a daily roaming charge

Daily roaming charges

To use Go Roam, you need to top up or buy a Data Pack first. You must do this in the UK before you travel – if not, you won’t be able to use your services.

Data Only Packs

A further 24-hour restriction or block will be applied if no SMS or data activity is detected in a rolling 3-day period.

Go Roam is built into your plan. You can use your UK calls, texts and up to 12GB of data in 49 Go Roam in Europe destinations at no extra cost.

You can: 

  • Buy more Go Roam passes
  • Pay a daily roaming charge of £2 to unlock your calls, texts, and up to 12GB of your UK data allowance. 

Daily roaming charges

  • If you joined or upgraded between 1 October 2021 and 17 December 2025, the daily roaming charge will be £2
  • If you joined or upgraded from 1 June 2025 with a SIM Only 24-month Lite plan with 25GB or 120GB data, the daily roaming charge will be £2
  • If you joined or upgraded on or after 18 December 2025, the daily roaming charge will be £2.75. This will start from 1 April 2026 and will be subject to annual price increases.

You have roaming built in. You can use your UK allowances in over 160 Go Roam destinations for up to 56 days at no extra cost. You can check how many passes you have to use by logging into My3 or the Three app.

If you joined or upgraded on or after 22 June 2025: 

Go Roam is built into your plan. You can use your UK calls, texts, and up to 12GB of data in over 160 Go Roam destinations at no extra cost.

Roaming notifications

When you arrive abroad, we’ll text you with any charges you can expect in that destination. If you don’t want to receive these notifications, text stop to 330. You can reactivate them by texting start to 330.

We’ll also notify you if any charges have been incurred while you’ve been roaming. Plus, we’ll let you know when any Go Roam Passes or Data Passports have been activated and when they’ll end.

You can check your usage at any time by logging into the Three app or your My3 account. All 3.uk links are free to access.

Inadvertent roaming

Inadvertent roaming – also known as accidental roaming – is when your device accidentally connects to a network in another destination. This can happen if:

  • You live or travel near an international border, where your device may connect to a network in different country
  • You live or travel near a coastline, where your device may connect to a maritime network
  • You’re on a plane, where your device may connect to an airline network

Connecting to another network may mean you’re charged higher roaming rates. If you connect to a network in a new destination, we’ll send you a text explaining any charges you can expect there.

To avoid inadvertent roaming, you can:
  • Review your credit limit on your My3 account
  • Switch off Data Roaming
  • Manually select the network for the country you’re in. If you do this, you’ll need to manually change your network each time you visit a new destination

To use data abroad, you must have data roaming switched on in your device settings. If it’s switched off, you’ll only be able to call and text.
 

Some networks abroad are switching off their 2G and 3G coverage, so having a 4G device is more important than ever. 

To stay connected while you’re abroad, you’ll need a 4G device with 4G calling or VoLTE enabled in your settings.
