While we wait for the official iPhone launch date we’ve got a round-up of our favourite new iPhone rumours from tech sites and the Twitterverse.

We’re super excited to see what Apple have lined up for this year’s new iPhone release and to see how it’ll compare to last year’s iPhone 8 and iPhone X, and we’ve not got long to wait for the official announcement.

Like most Apple fans, we’re already feeling the buzz of anticipation that only the run up to a new iPhone release date can cause.

One of the best parts of the annual iPhone release is wading through the rumours online, trying to find out what the new iPhone is potentially going to look like and what shiny new features it might have.

We won’t know for certain what Apple has planned until the iPhone launch later this year, but to whet your appetites, we’ve got a round-up of a few of our favourite new iPhone rumours from tech sites and Twitter

This week’s new iPhone rumours

Here’s a round-up of our favourite new iPhone rumours so far, this week.

Bring on Face ID

Touch ID – that’s so last year… with reports of all three new iPhones having an all-screen design that’s bezel-free and that Apple might be waving goodbye to the good ol’ home button, it sounds as though Touch ID may soon be a thing of the past, leaving Face ID to take centre stage.

What’s more, if the latest rumours are to be believed, then Face ID could soon be able to unlock your phone while it’s horizontal.

Will there be new iPhone camera updates?

A 12MP camera, optical image stabilisation and our personal favourite: Portrait Mode with that perfect Portrait Lighting – we loved last year’s iPhone camera updates. The iPhone rumours we’ve heard suggest that we’re not going to be disappointed this year either, with talk of a triple lens rear camera already doing the rounds on Twitter.

A dual-SIM iPhone?

Yep, you heard us, a dual-SIM iPhone. Some iOS 12 beta testers have spotted references to a “second SIM”. Does that mean that 2018 will bring the first dual-SIM iPhone? We can’t wait to find out if this rumour’s true.

We’re talking headphone jacks…again.

Remember the controversy around Apple’s decision to get rid of the headphone jack? How could you forget? But, you could still use your beloved headphones with the Lightning-to-3.5mm adapter that was included in the box. But, times are a-changin’ and it might be time to ditch that wiry tangle of headphones for the freedom of a wireless pair, because it’s been rumoured that Apple won’t be including the Lightning-to-3.5mm adapter with any of the new iPhones this year.

There’s going to be how many new iPhones?

Early rumblings suggested that there were going to be four new iPhones announced later this year but, as we get closer to the release date, a recent article from Forbes has hinted that three might just be the magic number… but we’ll have to wait until September to find out for sure.

‘Spotted by Consomac, Apple has chosen to publicly file identifiers for all its new iPhones in the Eurasian database, and it confirms three distinct designs will be coming to market.’

You can read the full article here.

Could it be the toughest iPhone yet?

If your phone always looks like it’s had a piano dropped on it, Wiley Coyote-style then listen up – the new iPhone is apparently going to be the most durable one yet, thanks to Gorilla Glass 6 which is a new formula that makes your phone twice as likely to survive multiple drops.

Let’s talk new iPhone screen sizes

Okay, so we’ve already heard that there could potentially be three new iPhones this year, but what might they look like?

Well, reports on Twitter suggest that there’s going to be a 5.8-inch iPhone with an OLED display, a 6.1-inch iPhone with an LCD display and last but by no means least, a 6.5-inch iPhone with an OLED display – an iPhone X Plus, perhaps?

How much will the new iPhone cost?

While no one is sure exactly how much each new iPhone is going to cost, whispers online have hinted that the OLED iPhones are likely to be in the range of £900 – £1000 while the entry level LCD iPhone looks to be in a more pocket-friendly bracket of £600 – £700.

‘As reported by 9to5Mac, TF International Securities’ Ming-Chi Kuo sent a report today to investors, predicting the price of a new LCD iPhone (maybe called iPhone X Lite?) with a display the same shape as the iPhone X. This new device “delivers the $1000 iPhone X design at the current price of the iPhone 8,” between $600-$700 USD’

So, if you’re on a budget and the idea of getting your hands on a shiny new iPhone seems like a distant dream, it might just be about to become a reality.

A more colourful new iPhone?

Not only will the rumoured LCD iPhone potentially make your bank account a little happier, if reports are to be believed then it may even make your life more colourful with the possible introduction of some brand-new iPhone colours.

A folding iPhone… really?

This is a rumour that surfaced before the launch of the iPhone 8 last year when Apple applied for a patent for a flexible iPhone and it seems to have appeared again this year. An iPhone that folds like a book? Seems legit…

That’s what we’ve seen rumoured about the new iPhone so far folks, but we’ll update this article regularly with more rumblings and rumours as we hear them so, stay tuned!
