Setting up your SIM on a phone from Three
If you’ve bought a Three Pay As You Go phone with a SIM, it'll be ready to use when you turn it on. You’ll then need to follow the steps below to activate your SIM. It'll come with a preloaded Top-up or Add-on. You can also easily move your old number to your new SIM.
Setting up your SIM on a phone not from Three
Using a Three Pay As You Go SIM in a phone you didn’t buy from us? There are a few things you’ll need to check to make sure it’ll work.
Firstly, our SIMs only work in 3G and 4G phones. They won’t work in older 2G-only devices. Text Mobile to 78333 to check if your phone is 3G-enabled. You won’t be charged for this text.
Once you know your phone is 3G or 4G and that it’s unlocked, follow the steps below to activate your SIM.
Activating your SIM
Follow these steps to activate your SIM:
Insert your SIM into your phone and switch it on.
We'll text you to let you know we've begun activating your SIM. This should only take about 30 minutes but during busy periods it may take longer. Keep your phone switched on while we get you connected.
We’ll then send you a second text telling you to turn your phone off and on again.
Your SIM will be activated when you restart your phone. We’ll confirm this with another text.

Please remember, if your phone is 2G-only or hasn’t been unlocked, we won’t be able to help you. You’ll need to visit your phone manufacturer's website or contact your old network.
