Herd the news? Our network COWs are coming to a 2026 event near you

June 12, 2026

Whether you’re cheering in the stands at a sporting event, singing along at a festival, or enjoying a family day out, staying connected matters. That’s why our network team works year-round to help keep everyone connected.

One of the main ways we do this is with our fleet of Cells on Wheels – also known as COWs. They’re temporary mobile masts that provide additional network capacity and coverage at major events across the UK.

What is a Cell on Wheels?

It’s a portable mobile mast that can be used wherever extra network support is needed. They help boost coverage and increase capacity. So, they’re perfect for places where thousands of people are using their phones at the same time.

From sharing photos and videos to making calls and checking travel updates – COWs help our customers stay connected, even in the busiest crowds.

Supporting more events than ever in 2026

We started planning for the 2026 event season began long before the first crowds arrived. This year, our COWs will be deployed more than 130 times across the country.

Some events will need multiple COWs, depending on things such as venue size, terrain, and the number of people expected to attend.

Better connectivity for more customers

As part of ongoing network improvements, most of our COW fleet now supports both Three and Vodafone 4G and 5G coverage.

So, even more customers will benefit from better connectivity at supported events. That means faster data speeds and clearer, more reliable voice calls. Even when network demand is high.

Where will our COWs be in 2026?

You’ll find our Cells on Wheels at some of the UK’s biggest events this year, including:

  • Wimbledon
  • Scottish Open Golf Tournament
  • Royal Ascot
  • Goodwood Festival
  • Grand National
  • Derby Festival
