Things to consider when buying a tablet

Screen size

Whatever you use your tablet for, screen size matters. You can choose from our range of lightweight, easily portable 7-inch tablets, or 10-inch tablets if you’re watching your favourite movies and shows.

If you download a lot, and you’re into photo and video-taking, then you’ll probably need plenty of robust storage and memory. From 64GB to 128GB, iPad offers a big storage range. Or we’ve got Android tablets with storage ranging from 64GB to 128GB too.

Depending on which phone you’ve got, you could link it to your tablet and share files, photos and more between your devices. You can also connect tablets to smart TVs and speakers, or check out which of our tablets come with Alexa built-in.

Frequently asked questions.

With so many tablets to choose from, it can be hard to pick. Do you want something lightweight like the Alcatel 3T8 or something super-powerful like the iPad Pro 12.9-inch 6th Gen? It’s also worth thinking about which operating system you want to use – iOS or Android. And what your budget is. Whatever you choose, we’ve also got great deals across a range of Samsung Galaxy tablets, and some great Lenovo tablet deals too. Or, check out our iPad contract deals.

Tablets are versatile devices that can be used for loads of different things. From streaming your favourite shows and gaming to taking notes, typing up documents, and drawing.

Laptops, are portable computers with a built-in keyboard with a trackpad. They don’t need a SIM to get online and can connect to Wi-Fi. They have a removable battery and usually have more features than a tablet. And use operating systems like Windows 11.

Tablets, like iPad and Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 are lighter and thinner than laptops. They run on mobile operating systems like iOS and Android. And to get online, you need to use Wi-Fi or a Data Only SIM. They’re touch screen and don’t have a built-in keyboard. But you can buy compatible Bluetooth keyboards and keyboard cases for most tablets.

Yes. Lots of tablets like the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 and iPad Pro use a stylus like the S Pen and Apple Pencil respectively. That makes them perfect for drawing, marking up documents, and taking notes. You can even get dedicated drawing apps like Procreate and Adobe Illustrator Draw.

With better performance, battery life, and even 5G connectivity, tablets are becoming more and more powerful. So much so that some people will now choose one over a laptop or computer.

Yes. You can buy tablets with Wi-Fi only. But to get the best out of them, we’d recommend picking one up with a Data Only SIM – that way you can get online whenever you like, without having to rely on Wi-Fi.

Yes. If you’re using your tablet for streaming, downloading, or browsing, it will use data – just like your mobile phone. That’s why we recommend using a Data Only SIM.
