A guide to Samsung AI

More and more smartphones are using the power of AI, for everything from image editing to real-time translation. 

Today, we’ll give you the lowdown on everything related to Samsung AI, including what it is, how to use it, some of the key features on offer, and what the next phase of Samsung AI looks like with the Samsung Galaxy S25 Series.

Galaxy AI is Samsung's AI system, now available on their smartphones and tablets, offering AI-powered assistance for various tasks related to creativity, productivity, and more. In Samsung’s own words, “Galaxy AI is designed to make your interactions with Samsung devices more intuitive, efficient, and personalised.” 

Making an important phone call on the go? Galaxy AI can produce a transcript so that you don’t have to make notes. Taken the ‘perfect photo’ and realised later there was an unwanted item in the shot? Galaxy AI can remove the item and replace it in a way that makes the photo look natural. See something while you’re out and want to know more? Take a photo of it, circle it, and Galaxy AI will investigate it and give you all the details.

Galaxy AI features are currently being provided for free on supported Samsung Galaxy devices until the end of 2025, so if you have one of those devices, you should be able to start using some of the features right away. To access certain features, you may need to login to your Samsung Account.

For those who do not currently have a supported Samsung Galaxy device, there may still be an opportunity to get a taste of Galaxy AI from another device, with more on that further down the page.

From time-saving tools to creative photo editing, there’s so many great ways you can use Galaxy AI. Here are a few of our favourites:

Circle to Search is the perfect feature for anyone who wants even more information at their fingertips. Whether you’re on your favourite website, scrolling through your daily reels, or snap a picture while out and about, Circle to Search allows you to circle items in a photo or video with your finger and immediately search for more on that topic.

You could circle an item of clothing worn by your favourite TikTok influencer to find out exactly what brand it is. Circle a photo of a restaurant’s signature hot dog to find out exactly what toppings are on it. Or see a new symbol on a website and circle it to find out more on what it means.

Browsing Assist helps users quickly find and understand relevant information, making your searches quicker and more productive.

Browsing Assist can use AI-assisted language processing to summarise a web page on a topic, product or service, providing you with all the key points you need to know.  This makes it a helpful assistant for everything from shopping to travel planning. 

The ability to produce perfect photos hits new heights with AI Photo Assist. We’re no longer just talking about neatly cropping a photo for social or adding a new filter to touch up some tired colours. 

AI Photo Assist can move objects within a photo, even moving people to arrange the perfect group pic. It can remove items and fill them in with a natural looking replacement, for example removing background graffiti when posing near a tourist attraction. Photo Assist can even expand a photo beyond its original borders and add further depth that looks natural. The possibilities are endless.

Portrait Studio allows you to create a range of personalised portraits from a single photo using generative AI. It offers various portrait styles, allowing users to transform their images into their favourite design styles, from Comic to Watercolour to 3D Cartoon. 

It can make for some really cool and creative image styles that can be used for everything from social profile avatars to entertaining friends and family by turning their photos into a cartoon masterpiece.

Intelligent Gallery enhances the viewing experience by utilising AI-driven features to enhance and organise your photos, making them easier to manage and more visually appealing. It can automatically categorise and group your photos based on subjects, locations, or events, giving you quick and easy access to specific memories. 

The feature also improves photo quality by adjusting brightness, contrast, and sharpness for the best results, providing a more dynamic media viewing experience

This is a really exciting development for those who love to travel, with the AI functionality able to translate both calls and in-person conversations in real-time.

It’s essentially like having an interpreter with you at all times, perfect for avoiding crossed wires at restaurants, when booking a taxi, and other key travel moments. Your phone can listen to the person speaking, then play the translated words via your phone speaker or earphones, as well as displaying the translated text on screen.

It’s the ideal tool to make a great holiday even better, as well as having useful work applications for many.

Note Assist makes the note-taking experience much simpler and more convenient. By automatically formatting and summarising your notes, it saves time and allows users to focus on more important tasks. The translation feature allows you to easily replicate your notes in a range of different languages.

Additionally, Note Assist can transcribe voice recordings into text, allowing for easy conversion of spoken content into written notes.

See a pasta dish online and want to know how to cook it? Ask “what is this and how do I make it?” and Galaxy AI will get you the recipe and instructions instantly. Ask your S25 to find family photos from a recent trip and voila – it’ll collect them all for you.
