Moving over to Three

Whether you'd like to keep your old number or start afresh with a new one, here's everything you need to know about moving over to Three.

Moving to Three with your old number – getting a PAC code

Want to bring your number over to Three? No problem – you'll just need a PAC code from your old network. They know the drill, so get in touch with them and they'll sort it.

Your PAC will be a 9-character code, made up of 3 letters followed by 6 numbers. It'll be valid for 30 days, and you can choose any transfer date during that time (excluding weekends and bank holidays). If it's after 6pm, you won't be able to pick the next day.

Once this code has been used, your old account will be closed automatically.

For your security, we can only transfer your number over if you're the account holder or an authorised contact. The same goes for any change or cancellation requests once everything's under way. A third-party store can make a request to transfer your number for you, but we'll need to confirm you've given them the all-clear.

Remember: until we've transferred your number over from your old network, you'll need to use the number you get with your Three SIM.

What to do with your PAC code

To kick things off, open the Three Pay As You Go app or log in to your account and select Port your number in. You'll see some info about number transfers. Read that, and once you're happy, hit Let's get started.

From there, just go ahead and enter your PAC. You can pick any date for the number transfer, as long as your PAC's still valid. Once we've got your PAC, we'll transfer your number over and make sure your old account's closed.

Then you're all done. You can track the status of your request in the Three Pay As You Go app or your online account.

Moving to Three with a new number – getting a STAC code

Prefer a brand-new number when you move to Three? Just grab a STAC code from your old network – getting one's often as easy as sending them a text. Once you use it, the account on your old network will be closed automatically.

Your STAC will be a 9-character code, made up of 6 numbers followed by 3 letters. It'll be valid for 30 days, and you choose any transfer date during that time (excluding weekends and bank holidays) – although if it's after 6pm, you won't be able to pick the next day for the transfer.

What to do with your STAC code

Once you've got your STAC code, open the Three Pay As You Go app or log in to your account and select Port your number in. You'll see some general info about number transfers which you should read, but once you're happy, hit Let's get started.

From there, go ahead and enter your STAC. You'll be asked for your old number after that, just so we can transfer your account.

You can pick any date for the transfer, as long as your STAC's still valid. Once we've got your STAC, we'll get your new number sorted and make sure your old account's closed.

Then you're all done – you can track the status of your request in the Three Pay As You Go app or your online account.

Rescheduling or cancelling a number transfer

Changed your mind? No worries. You can reschedule or cancel your number transfer at any point until 5pm on the working day before it's due to happen (excluding weekends and bank holidays).

To make a change, open the Three Pay As You Go app or log in to your account then follow these steps:

  1. Select the transfer request you see on your dashboard
  2. Hit Cancel transfer
  3. Click Cancel transfer again to confirm the cancellation

Once you've done that, you can check the status of your request in the Three Pay As You Go app or your account online.
