Daily Go Roam passes aren’t included with our Lite plans or on any older Advanced plans. To enjoy Go Roam, you’ll need to buy a Go Roam pass or pay a daily roaming charge. Don’t forget, you can get up to 2 days roaming free when you buy a Go Roam pass [2]

With Go Roam in Europe, you can: 

  • Call and text standard landline or mobile numbers in the UK or another Go Roam in Europe destination. This doesn’t include calls or texts to international numbers.
  • Call voicemail and our customer services 
  • Use up to 12GB of your data allowance

How to unlock your allowance 

You can unlock your UK allowances in a Go Roam in Europe destination by: 

  • Using an inclusive Go Roam pass, if you have them included in your plan.  
  • Buying a Go Roam in Europe pass, and get up to 2 days roaming free [2]
  • Paying £2 to unlock your allowances for 24 hours. Important: If you have a Spend Cap on your account, it must cover this daily roaming charge, plus any other charges. If not, you won’t be able to roam.

With Go Roam Around the World, you can: 

  • Call and text standard landline and mobile numbers in the UK

  • Paying £5 to unlock your allowances for 24 hours. Important: If you have a Spend Cap on your account, it must cover this daily roaming charge, plus any other charges. If not, you won’t be able to roam.

With Go Roam Around the World Extra, you can:

  • Paying £7 to unlock your allowances for 24 hours. Important: If you have a Spend Cap on your account, it must cover this daily roaming charge, plus any other charges. If not, you won’t be able to roam.

On Pay Monthly? You can use up to 12GB of your data allowance in any Go Roam destination. 

Where are you travelling to?  

Tell us where you’re going, and we’ll let you know if it’s a Go Roam destination.

Frequently Asked Questions 

It works automatically. You just need to make sure you’re using a compatible device with data roaming switched in the settings and the latest software installed. 

Before you go, don’t forget to check you have roaming enabled on your account. Got a Spend Cap on your account? Make sure it’s set to an amount that covers the daily roaming charge, plus any other charges. If not, you may not be able to roam. 

On Pay As You Go? Your SIM must be active and have been used to make a call, send a text, or use data before you can use it abroad. 

When you arrive abroad, you’ll get a text confirming the charges for using your device there. You can check the standard international roaming charges for any destination by tapping the Roaming charges link in the text and choosing the destination you’d like to check. 

Remember: to call or text back to the UK, you must replace the first 0 in the number you’re calling or texting with +44

If you’re a pay Monthly customer, you can use up to 12GB of your data allowance in any Go Roam destination. This limit may be subject to change. 

Go Roam is intended for our UK customers who are UK residents visiting a Go Roam destination for short periods, such as holidays or business trips.

If you’re going somewhere not included in Go Roam, you won’t be able to use your UK allowances there. Instead, you’ll be charged the standard roaming rates, which vary depending on the destination. To find out more, visit our roaming abroad page.

Inadvertent roaming is when your device connects to a network in a different destination, without you meaning to. This can happen if you live or travel near an international border. It can also happen if. You live near a coastline, where you may connect to maritime services. Connecting to another network in a different destination may mean you pay higher roaming charges. 

To avoid this, you can turn off data roaming on your device and look out for any notification messages we send you. You can check roaming costs on our Roaming abroad page.

Inadvertent roaming in Northern Ireland

If you live close to the Northern Irish border, you may sometimes connect to a network in the Republic of Ireland without meaning to. 

To make sure there are no accidental charges added to your monthly bill, we’ve excluded the Republic of Ireland from our fair use limit of 12GB. This is the limit that usually applies when roaming in Go Roam in Europe destinations. 

There are no fair use limits for making calls or sending texts in Go Roam destinations. And the Republic of Ireland is also excluded from the daily roaming charge.  

Yes. You can buy multiple Go Roam passes at once – perfect if you’re going to be away for a while. They’ll be used in the order you bought them. 

Yes. You can buy any combination of Go Roam passes at the same time. This is ideal if you’re going to several different destinations.  

If you have a combination of passes, the first one to be used will depend on your location. 

For example, if you use your UK allowances in a Go Roam in Europe destination, your Go Roam in Europe pass will be used first. 

Exclusions and further details 

Daily roaming charges don’t apply if you’re on a Pay As You Go or your Pay Monthly plan started before 1 October 2021.

Go Roam Around the World Extra is not available if you’re on Pay As You Go or your Pay Monthly plan started before 1 October 2021. 

There’s no charge to unlock your UK call, text, and data allowances when travelling to the Isle of Man and the Republic of Ireland.
